Basically what happened was that I noticed that a string was appended to the URLs of my individual posts on WordPress:

eval(base64_decode($_SERVER[HTTP_REFERER]))

BAH! It breaks the links!

Anyway, it was my own bad for not being totally up to date with the latest version of WordPress. Eric listened as I freaked out about manually backing up my blog and updating to version 2.84 (since the auto-update wasn’t working for me).

Then my cousin B went into my database and cleaned out the yuck code, per the instructions I found at 4rev.net.

And then, hocus pocus, my blog was all good again! Thanks for the help, guys!

2) No more pretending that Tweeting is the same as blogging. I started this blog in 2003 (six freakin’ years ago before most people had even HEARD of the word blogging!) so that I would write a little every day. I’ve taken breaks here and there, but the last few months of the Twitter posts taking over my blog is ridiculous. No wonder no one visits anymore. There’s nothing here but Twitter shit. Sorry ’bout that.

3) Writing on other sites… may be republished here.
That means, you may see crossposts from:

If you have been reading jozjozjoz since the beginning, then that image should look familiar to you. It’s a funny picture of my dog Chu-Chu, who passed away in January 2003, a few weeks before I decided to start blogging. I’m not sure I ever explained that publicly, but it’s true.

Originally, I thought I was going to write about my dog to get over my grief of losing him. I quickly came to realize that I didn’t feel comfortable blogging about things like that and instead focused on the “insignifica” of my life.

That’s right, insignifica. Do you remember that, too? Before I moved to my own .com, my good friend Mike Doss was kind enough to host me on his site at insignifica.org/jozjozjoz, unwittingly creating the blogging monster I have now become.

Anyway, that was a little jozjozjoz blog history for you.

Thanks again to The Other Yoshi who has put another blog design for us to try. I’m glad to see my old banner up (originally designed by Gingersmack), but I can already tell that there is some tweaking I’m going to want done to this layout. Is there anything that you want to see? Features missing? (I’m thinking I still want a third column/extra sidebar, along with a bunch of stuff that seems to be missing.)

It’s really clear to me that even though this is my blog, it would never have been able to manage and maintain it without the help of the people above, plus friends like Michael who has helped me through a number of upgrades, server moves and massive housekeeping chores. My sincerest gratitudes for all these people who have helped me over the years out of the kindness of their hearts!

And of course, it wouldn’t have been possible without all my friends who visit and read and comment and basically keep it fun for me to keep doing this, thank you, too!

Oh, back to the point of this post (which was NOT to see how many times I could use the word “yoshi” in one post)…

Today, the other yoshi fixed a long-standing thing on my blogfix wishlist!

Find a way to import the “Lost blog archives from January 2003 through mid-August 2003.”

Using an old MT (Movable Type backup), the other yoshi was able to import almost 8 months worth of missing entries to my current WordPress blog. Yay! Now my blog is all “living” in one place!

A full day of work in OC yesterday + a commute back to LA + homework etc + two hours of sleep last night + a full day at work (no lunch) + 4 hours of class = messing up the venue of the place I was supposed join kent nichols for drinks to celebrate his birthday.

Aside from not reading one of the cases (unintentional! I didn’t know it was assigned), something was bound to give.

Oh and my 5 year blogiversary came and went and I totally forgot to mention it.

I don’t know if I should my first day should count as January 14, 2003 (my first blogpost at blogger.com that didn’t work) or January 29, 2003 (my first post at the blog hosted at insignifica.org/jozjozjoz).

Either way, it’s definitely been 5 years.

I blame this guy and this guy for this. Thanks, guys!

Yesterday, I wrote a post about the building across the street from my office building being transformed into a giant Transformers ad on blogging.la. I’m really excited about this and even got some scoop about what it’s going to be like when it’s done.

I even posted a picture I took of one side of the building. See?

Anyway, Markland told me that my post got linked by defamer and they used my photo, too!

Short Ends: Billboardtron Transforms From Former Office Building Into Giant Movie Ad
· The shell of the 360 building at Sunset & Vine is getting a second skin, courtesy of Transformers. It’s more than meets the eye! Just like a building that was once insulated with asbestos!

Today, there was a major windstorm in LA… lo & behold the Transformers wrap on one side of the building was ripped off by the wind. Defamer posted pictures before I was able to get to it, but in this post they linked to an old post I’d written about that same building (when it caught on fire a couple of years ago).

Anyhoo, I went this afternoon to try and see if I could find a remnant of the billboard, but the smaller pieces had already blown away and been picked up.

It’s being sold on sedo.com and right now, it’s up to $5k.

I’ve been trying to get my hands on it for almost 10 years now. I should it bought it way back in 1997 when I looked it up and it was still available. Ahh, hindsight.

Sigh. If I’d known it was going to go on sale, I’d have thought about a fundraising campaign.

When I had made an offer on this domain a few months ago, my offer got rejected and they came back with a counter offer of SEVENTEEN THOUSAND dollars!!! What-e-ver. I said, “No you pricing gouging dickwads,” (ok, I actually just said “no”) and went on my merry way.

I got a notice yesterday that this public auction was going on for joz.com and I guess anyone who made a previous offer got notice about it. Well lookie here. At $5k, the reserve has been met. Guess no one could pony up $17k for the domain.

Sigh. I still want joz.com though.

Ok, so I pretty much reconstructed a post I meant to write last week. Maybe next week I will write about what I intended to write this week.

It’s 3:20am. She thought it was 3:20 in the afternoon here, for some reason. At least she didn’t wake me up from deep sleep. I’m pretty grumpy when that happens.

She got my Dad’s old cell phone # working again, so now she’s reachable.

Good to hear her voice. I miss her already.

UPDATE: I just added a Taiwan clock to the bottom of my blog. Now I’ll be able to tell what time it is so I know if it’s ok to call Mom.
