So here are some announcements

I’m officially on vacation!

AND I’m on SPRING BREAK!

AND AND we get on a plane to Italy sometime Friday!

AND AND AND I got a haircut!

(Ok, I know that last one wasn’t that big of an annoucement, but it was a big deal to me.)

Behind on multiple deadlines.

Yeah, that fuse drama from last night put me behind several hours.

On the blog front a new hosting server has been secured and the wonderful Michael is going to be working on getting jozjozjoz.com set up again from being FUBAR’d for a month.

So ch-ch-changes are coming soon.

Plus, stay tuned for another announcement in the adventures of jozjozjoz.

So one hour later, this is what I have learned…

-No amount of whining and crying will get Yoshi to go down in the cold creepy dark basement when I am the one who blew the fuse.

-There is nothing but water heaters, furnaces, and spiderwebs in the cold creepy dark basement.

-When you live in an old building, there is no such thing as “circuit breakers.”

-The fuse box is actually inside the apartment. There was no need for anyone to go into said cold creepy dark basement.

-The fuse box is located about six feet off the ground. Behind the dryer.

-There are six fuse thingies in the box. The “on/off” switch on the outside of the fuse box apparently does nothing.

-None of the six fuse thingies are labeled. If you unscrew things, other things will turn off in other rooms. Like lights, computers, and other electronical stuff.

-The only way you can tell what controls what is to turn everything on, stand on a ladder to reach the fuse box and start unscrewing fuses and have someone else stand in other parts of the house to tell you what you just turned off.

-Labelmakers rule. Identifying and labelling the fuses for the future is a good thing.

-Messing with the fuses in the house may have accidentally f-ed up the garage door opener. The last time we checked, the door wouldn’t close via the electronic door opener and we had to close it manually. And Yoshi had to gank it shut by jamming something into the door so our garage wouldn’t be open all night. Oh and the light won’t turn off in there, either.

-There is one mystery fuse in our fuse box. We don’t know what the hell it controls. My theory is that it opens/closes Pandora’s Box. I’m not sure about that, though.

-Waiting for Yoshi to get home and not asking for the neighbors for help before it gets too late to ring their doorbell and ask for help was not a good choice of action.

-No matter how dumb the jozjozjoz is for trying to use the microwave and the toaster oven at the same time (even though at some level the jozjozjoz knew not to do this), the Yoshi will not call jozjozjoz retarded. Although the Yoshi did call the SITUATION retarded.

-Tee and JeniJeniJeni do take our household distress calls late at night. Thanks! (Don’t worry, we didn’t electrocute ourselves!)

-jozjozjoz is responsible for calling the landlord and asking for help tomorrow.

Doh. I think I blew a fuse.

I started the microwave and the toaster oven at the same time and left the room. (I think I knew that I wasn’t supposed to do that.)

Now half the house has no power (kitchen, the den, half the living room). So that means the fridge isn’t working either. Or the TV/TiVo in the den.

Ooops.

And it’s dark and I would have to go down in the cold creepy dark basement to go flip the switch.

OR I can wait for Yoshi to get home and whine and cry so I don’t have to do it.

Guess which route I’m gonna take?

Oh well. At least my bowl of matzo ball soup got heated up before the power went kaput.

UPDATE @ 10:21p: Ok, so Yoshi is home and is not happy about the situation.

I really wish I could push some sort of “pause” button on the rest of the world & get some time to sleep & relax & catch up on random stuff…

Yeah.

That would be nice.

So incredibly tired…

So much to do.

I cleaned much of Saturday. My desk is two giant piles of paper, but organized. I have lots to go through.

My time is running out, but my energy is running out faster.

Better get some zzzz’s so I can make it through work tomorrow.

Things that kind of suck.

I mean if these are the worst things going on in my life, I have a pretty good life, but they still kind of suck:

-Rooben (our Roomba) seems to be on the fritz again… but it’s no longer under warranty.*

-My boss asked me if I would give up my work laptop to a new VP who is starting in two weeks. I really don’t NEED the laptop, seeing as I have my personal laptop and also a desktop at work. Plus I’m the only person who has a private black & white and color laser printer… but I’ve been using the laptop for over a year now and it sucks to have to give it up because no one wants to pay for a new one for the new VP.

-My desk is still a disaster area. And I’ve been trying to keep it under control, too. Yeesh.

*The good news is that I called iRobot about Rooben and customer service walked me through a manual reset, which seems to have fixed it for the time being… we’ll see…

Sumo, baby!

Did you know there is such a thing as the California Sumo Association?

Did you also know that there is a US SUMO OPEN and it is happening in our fair City of Angels this weekend?

I got an email from Teebubble asking if I wanted to go (wish I could, but I can’t). But I was so fascinated by the site, I had to share.

I need a nap.

Zzzzzzzzzz.

I feel like I’ve forgotten how to blog.

What’s a blog again?

Who am I?

Where am I?

Eeeeeeeeee!

The cats are conspiring against me.

I have to do a stupid audio powerpoint recording and everytime I start to try to record, the cats outside the window start wailing.

I know they’re just trying to make kittens and all, but I really doubt that anyone wants to hear cats having sex in the background of my PowerPoint presentation.

(Thanks to Yoshi who went outside to chase them away. Yoshi has now been designated by the grumpy jozjozjoz as the Official Cat Cock Blocker*.)

*Hmmm… funny, Yoshi doesn’t appreciate that moniker… can anyone think of something better?

I can’t watch anymore.

This sucks.

Bruins meeting their match in Indianapolis
3 Fla 59 8:23
2 UCLA 43 2nd

A misfiring UCLA squad is struggling to get back in the game vs. Florida at the national championship/

Arrrgh.

Final: Florida 73, UCLA 57

I got this as a member of the UCLA Alumni Association…

As a member of the UCLA family, you are invited to join us at Pauley Pavilion this evening with a few thousand of your closest Bruin friends to watch the Bruins bash the Gators on the famous arena’s scoreboard video screen.

Doors open at 5 p.m., tip-off shortly after 6 p.m. Limited to available seating, first come, first serve. To reduce traffic congestion, we ask that you enter the campus off Sunset Boulevard. Parking will be available in structures 4 and 7. Please enter Pauley Pavilion at Gate 1.

Go Bruins!

If I was anywhere near the westside, I would SO be there! (I’m just gonna watch the game from home.)

U!
C!
L!
A!

FIGHT! FIGHT! FIGHT!

I’m allowed to be pissy.

Thanks to the Yoshi for taking my car into the dealership to see WTF is up with the dumbass check engine light which is on (again).

But I’m pissed off that it’s going to cost me $1600 to fix whatever the hell is wrong with my car.

So I’m going to have an attitude problem about it.

I hate taking the car to the dealer. I always feel like I’m getting ripped off. Then again, if I take it other places, I don’t feel assured that my car is actually getting fixed. I always feel like I am getting lied to and I hate that, too.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t have an extra $1600 lying around to spend on my dumbass car. I can’t even afford the vacation I’m going to take two weeks from now, but I really need that. Besides, it’s already paid for.

It’s a good thing I didn’t take my car in any sooner because I would’ve said “no” to the trip if I had known how much this was going to cost me.

Every time I save up money so I can spend it on something nice, some stupid shit always comes up and I end up going into more debt.

Do I need my car to live in L.A.? Yes. Do I really have the money to afford this bullshit? No fucking way.

I hate not having enough money.

It’s to the Finals for the Bruins, baybeeeeeeeee!

UCLA's Luc Richard Mbah a Moute scores during the first half against LSU in their Final Four semifinal basketball game in Indianapolis, Saturday, April 1, 2006. (AP Photos/Michael Conroy)So courtesy of TiVo, I just finished watching the UCLA/LSU game. I still remember the last time the Bruins went this far in the NCAA tournament in the days of the O’Bannon brothers, Tyus Edney, and Toby Bailey. I was living in Westwood at the time and I still remember the excitement on Landfair, Gayley, Kelton and Veteran as everyone followed March Madness. I don’t think I’ll ever forget the feeling of the entire street shaking in the excitement of that 1995 championship game. (Though I thought about going down there, I wasn’t down in the Village during those riots after the game…)

I can’t believe how much time has passed since those days but watching the excitement of today’s game, I was instantly transported back to that exciting NCAA tournament and how proud I was then (and still am) to be a Bruin.

This Bruin team really earned my respect today with how hard they played. And I still can’t get over how talented Luc Richard Mbah a Moute (umbah-a-moo-teh) is. How is it possible that this guy is a freshman who has only been playing 5 years of organized basketball? Amazing.

I’ll be cheering him and the rest of the UCLA team on Monday night.

*does the 8 clap*

Bruins Batter Tigers 59-45, Claim Spot In Championship Game

April 1, 2006

UCLA Ryan Hollins dunks the ball despite the tight defense of LSU forward Tyrus Thomas during the second half of their Final Four semifinal game in Indianapolis. (AP Photos/Darron Cummings)INDIANAPOLIS (AP) – The UCLA defense had blocked his final shot and he had committed his final foul. Wearily, Glen Davis plopped down on the bench and shook his head.

Oh, Baby, can the Bruins play defense.

Throw some offense in there on the same night and not even LSU and its 6-foot-9, 310-pound star, the guy known as “Big Baby,” had a chance. The Bruins shut Davis down Saturday en route to a 59-45 victory over the Tigers that put them one win away from their 12th national title.

“They came out and punched us and we didn’t recover from it,” Davis said.

The last step in the quest to hang another banner at Pauley Pavilion comes Monday in the final against Florida, a 73-58 winner over George Mason in the first semifinal. [full story]

If sunrise is at 5:42 AM…

… that means I just have to stay up for less than half an hour longer to watch the sunrise.

Yes, I stayed up all night.

No, I did not go out or do anything fun.

Yes, I was working (not work-work, but work nonetheless)

No, I’m not as tired as I probably should be.

UPDATE @ 6:40am – OOOPS! That was my alarm going off loudly in the other room. It’s off now.

UPDATE @ 7:05am – Ok, so I was awake during sunrise, but I missed it. Since I overslept on Friday (oops!), if I stay up for 2 hours and 10 more minutes, I will have officially been up for 24 hours straight.

UPDATE @ 7:31am – I give up. I’m going to sleep now. I have a feeling I’m going to get yelled at later for not sleeping.

UPDATE @ 8:01am – So I lied. I didn’t really go to sleep because I’m still up.

UPDATE @ 11:49am – So I got about 3 hours of sleep and guess what? I’m totally messed up! I can’t write, complete a thought, or focus on anything! Woot! This will be a fun day!

You think it’s possible…

…for *poof! and your blog is moved and everything is set up the way it’s supposed to be and I can blog and not worry about anything!* to happen?

(sigh)

I thought not.

What’s up with yahoo mail today?

I keep sending things to people with yahoo email addies and they are bouncing.

This sucks!

The adventures of Lil Ed and Lil Antonio

Posted at blogging.la

So Steve Hymon, a reporter at the LA Times, is in the midst of a very unscientific (but interesting) experiment to see if two goldfish can live in water from the L.A. River.

Well guess what? It turns out they can!

Little Ed (named for Councilman Ed Reyes, river project supporter) and Little Antonio (named for Mr. Mayor himself) have been living in a tank of L.A. River water for about a month, as well on a webcam at latimes.com/goldfishcam (the webcam will be on until for the next couple of days, anyway).

According to the LA Times site:

Little Antonio has developed black splotches, but appears to be faring well; we think it had to do with a chemical imbalance in the tank.

The experiment, not surprisingly, has brought an array of responses from readers, ranging from high praise to this being the single stupidest thing ever to be published in The Times.

Then there was this gloomy note from one reader: “Just like you and me, Little Antonio and Little Ed aren’t getting out of this alive.”

After the goldfish cam is turned off, Little Ed and Little Antonio will continue to live in river water in their aquarium, but we’ll mitigate for some of the unique problems. We’ll try to give the fish a good life in exchange for being good sports.

Dear Universe:

I kind of need my flash drive with all my recent work on it. I had it this morning, but now I can’t find it.

Please return it to me before I have a heart attack.

UPDATE 3/30/06 @ 9:24a: OMG OMG OMG! WHERE IS THIS THING?!?! It’s not at work, not in my purse, not in my car, not at home, not in any pockets… I NEED THIS!!!

UPDATE 3/30/06 @ 9:26p: I found it today at 5pm.

I miss having a life.

In other news, I continue to be allergic to the world.
