Yoshi had to take a cold shower this morning because we didn't seem to have any hot water.
Five hours later, we still don't have any hot water and I'm being held hostage at home because I called the Gas Company to fix it & their service window was between the time that I called (10am) to 8pm.
Except for a brief appointment I have in the late afternoon, I was able to switch things around and work from home. But if those damn gas dudes come the hour I'm gone from my appointment, I'm going to go ballistic.
UPDATE: Gas guy came around 7pm and lit the pilot. It'll take an hour or so for the water to heat up again.
Posted by jozjozjoz at December 7, 2004 12:09 PMI bet it is just the pilot that's out.
But seeing as I've got no idea how to relight it, I don't think anyone wants to see me try to figure it out.
Posted by: :: jozjozjoz :: at December 7, 2004 12:36 PMask yoshi--i'm sure he can figure it out
Posted by: stkyrice at December 7, 2004 05:50 PMYoshi's not home all day.
Yoshi said "Don't try to light the thing yourself."
6pm. Still no Gas Co. guy.
Posted by: :: jozjozjoz :: at December 7, 2004 06:02 PMPhooey!! And you're right to listen to Yoshi!s advice. Lighting gas pilots isn't something for the uninitiated (or slightly uncoordinated.) Think Wile E. Coyote, after one of his inventions has backfired.
i was going to call and say open windows and buy a canary but i thought that'd be a little extreme.
Posted by: yoshi! at December 7, 2004 06:44 PMI hope you watched the guy light the pilot just in case it happens again. It is not rocket science!
Posted by: Nez at December 8, 2004 10:27 AMSome things you simply MUST learn to do for yourself. Lighting pilot lights, pumping your own gas, replacing fuses in fuseboxes.

of course that's gonna happen--are you sure that it's not just the pilot light that needs to be re-lit? if that's the case, all you have to do is relight it from the hot water heater.
don't ask me how i know this--i guess i'm more butch than i thought.
