Seen in a circular for OSH (Orchard Supply Hardware)

DID YOU KNOW?

Ceiling fans have a switch that can change the direction of air flow. During warm months, fan blades needs to turn counterclockwise. To circulate warm air during cooler months, flip the switch located just below the fan blades to turn them clockwise. This will direct cooler air upwards and warmer air downwards.

Yes. And when I told someone this, they looked at me as if I had two heads. I use this to supplement the heating vents in my room during the Winter.

I never knew that, how did you find that out?

I knew that, but I did just install a NEW ceiling van in my bedroom. I like mine always blowing down cause I like the windchill:)

Hi Ann, On that ceiling van, does the seats automatically fold in the back?

Posted by: kinkoman at July 10, 2004 07:42 AM

I want a fan that would have a computer chip inside and it would adjust accordingly automagically each season. I will never remember which direction for which season otherwise.

Surely you knew that. Did you know that? You DIDN'T know that?!?!

I knew that. :)

Ah yes, and twice a year I get up there (my ceilings are 10') and am completely disgusted by the dust that has accumilated. Kinda like when you pull the refrigerator out... Blech.

i just found this out week before last. my excuse is that i never have had and don't currently have ceiling fans........but i sure could use some because the trades are missing in action and it was 90 degrees inside one day last week.....

yup i knew about the switch and air flow. i don't do it, but i knew. the directions to ceiling fans tell you, at least mine did.

I miss the ceiling fan I had at my old place. it had the direction switch on it and I figured out which way worked best in winter or summer. sure wish I had it now.

Are you sure this isn't just a thinly-veiled disguise for gossip? ;^)
