I HATE being on hold! Wish I had some suggestions, but I just sit there and get grumpier and grumpier and grumpier until that poor soul answers the phone to find me being grumpy:(

I for one would like to have an on hold message. It passes the time away and keeps me amused. I agree though that if the on hold feature keeps you holding for more than a minute it should dial back the client you called. Its only fair...

You can tell when a company makes too much money: The have a "hold jocky" - like a disc jocky on a radio station, the hj plays music, provides witty banter, and "traffic reports" about how long you have to wait in the various tech help queues.

Sometimes I put THEM on hold when they finally pick up, if i have to go grab something. it might make you feel better even though it's mean.

I have been bombarded by spammers too (I had to delete 215 comments)-This by the way is off topic to this post. Now to get on topic. Sometimes I dig the hold music and am tempted to ask them to put me back on hold to finish the song ;)

Is it something from the 60's or 70's?
