My monitor is dying.
My wonderful 21" monitor (that weighs 2043759034 lbs and takes up a ton of space on my desk) is dying. It's impossible to use it now unless you want to get a horrible migraine while trying.
Good thing I can hijack Yoshi's computer for today.
UPDATE: Uh oh. I don't think it's the monitor. I plugged in a different monitor and the "fuzzy screen" business it happening on the 'new' monitor, as well... HELP!
Posted by jozjozjoz at December 27, 2003 03:47 PMDo you have a video card or onboard video? If you have onboard video, is your computer new? Under warranty?
If not, would you rather buy a new computer, or a video card for 100 bucks to bypass the onboard video and fix the problem?
Posted by: Geoffrey at December 27, 2003 10:35 PMyup. new video card - i recommend ATI. good luck with that. =)
Posted by: kaydee at December 27, 2003 11:40 PMA lot of the times it is the video card. It could have loosen itself from its slot. Try removing it and replacing it in the slot. Then power up the computer again. Good luck.

Posted by: Sonia at December 28, 2003 07:21 AMUh ohhh...I can't help you..Kevin takes care of the computers at my house.
Posted by: Ginny at December 28, 2003 08:09 AMack! I hope you figure it out...seeing how I'm computer illiterate I won't be able to help out :( sorry hun!
Posted by: Meeta at December 28, 2003 01:15 PMDon't forget the cable between the video card and the monitor. Especially if you have an "extension" cable in there. Cables take more abuse than anything else on your monitor, except for the power supply. If two monitors both behave the same way, It's likely either the cable, the video card, or the VGA connector on the computer itself. Good Luck!!
my video card went bad recently and i was very thankful it wasn't my beautiful but very heavy NEC monitor. And yes, it could be the cable as Keith pointed out. Hope it is something a simple part swap will cure. Good luck!
Posted by: lomara at December 28, 2003 08:15 PMDefinitely check the cable and the video card. If that doesn't work, just beat the computer senseless. It won't help the video quality but it might make you feel better :-)
