We saw them at the grocery store but didn’t buy them. Also, the security in the store was stepped up because a girl walked out with a bottle of liquor in her coat.

Hello from rainy Silicon Valley! It’s my annual New Year’s post and
picture!

This photo was taken yesterday during our annual Half Moon Bay excursion to
pick up crab for New Year’s. (If you look closely in the photo, you can see
both Yoshi & YoshiDad getting crab from the boat behind me.) We usually
head out around lunchtime, head directly to the pier, fill up our ice chest
with crab (14 crabs this year!), and then go to Ketch Joanne Restaurant for
lunch. Sometimes I order the steamed clams in butter and garlic sauce–
depending on if YoshiDad is in the mood to share it with me because the
order is so huge. Yoshi usually orders a bowl of Boston clam chowder and
something else.

This year, our little trio became a five-some because Yoshi’s cousin P & his
wife G met us at the pier (they picked up some crab, too) and joined us for
lunch. We ordered 2 bowls of clam chowder, the steamed clams, fried
oysters, clam ciopinno, a shrimp and crab cocktail, and a combination
grilled seafood sandwich. We were stuffed!

After lunch, we go back to Yoshi’s parents’ place and YoshiDad begins
cooking crab so it’ll be ready for a huge crab feast a dinnertime for New
Year’s Eve. At home, YoshiMom fed the baby (Yoshi’s nephew "Chachi") while
we got a headstart on the delicious crab– she later caught up with us and
between the four of us, we devoured three whole crabs.

Chachi is now walking around the house– not quite talking yet– so he was
running around and getting into everything. Yoshi has been staying at the
house with both parents and a toddler since Christmas & wanted to get
some peace and quiet, so we checked ourselves in to a nearby hotel to
quietly ring in 2011. I was so exhausted from not sleeping (to get all my
work done before the long weekend) and traveling that I actually fell
asleep before midnight… but had Yoshi wake me up so I could at least watch
the balldrop and do the countdown.

This is how it went down: 10… 9… 8… 7… 6… 5… 4… 3… 2… 1…
HAPPY NEW YEAR! Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz….
So anyway, HAPPY 2011… Zzzzz…
