“What is a precipice? Does it mean ‘a ledge?'”

Asked my friend, EB, who was calling from a trip in the NorthEast.

I looked it up to give him the official definition.

precipice \PRES-uh-pis\, noun:
1. A very steep, perpendicular, or overhanging place; a cliff.
2. The brink of a hazardous situation.

“Um. Why do you ask?” I wondered aloud.

EB: “I wish we’d known the definition of that word before we just nearly killed ourselves.”

Yikes!
