I’ve been kind of afraid to check in, for fear of seeing something like this. Wow, what can I say other than I’m so sorry for you and your family’s loss. It happened so quickly; you must still be in a daze. Your father was loved and will be missed–I guess that’s all anyone can hope for in this life.

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my father in March very suddenly; I know how overwhelming this all is. Just know that many people’s thoughts, love, and prayers are with you and your family.

My grandmother had a heart attack, and I sat with her non stop for eight days. I rarely left her side until she passed.
The great honor I have, and the very special priviledge, is the memories I have while there with her. Most of the time she wasn’t conscious, and I just prayed and read to her. I watched this beloved woman just slip away, and I was powerless. But, I knew that she was grateful, she told me once while she was lucid, and once in a dream while she was asleep.
It was so hard to have to watch my mother deal with the loss of her mother, and support her, while mourning the loss of my grandmother too.
It was an honor to be there during those last days, and a priviledge to watch another pass from one life to another. It’s most likely second to birth. In my opinion, it’s first.
I hated losing her, and I mourn and miss her still. I always will. I am so happy though that she was finally at peace. She was so beautiful and peaceful looking once she left her body.
Though the pain is difficult and almost unbearable at the moment, you will treasure every moment you had with your father. Those are the most special memories that you will have to yourself. No one can tell you how they were, you know in your heart. And your father knows exactly what your heart mourns for him, and he loves you, and is most grateful that you made his last days full of love and family.
God Bless you, and may you find peace in knowing that you were a blessing to your father when he needed you the most.

I do not even know you, yet I sit here my eyes filled with tears. I have a good idea how you feel, I lost my dad at 12. As I read thru your blog about your father, I find myself wiping away tears that do not seem to want to stop.
