Grrr.

Well the elation of getting a new phone lasted, oh, a few hours or so.

My Cingular SIM card was officially switched off around 8:35pm. I tested my new phone and WOOT! It worked!

Unfortunately, the T-Mobile signal at my parents’ home is even crappier than what it was with Cingular… I didn’t know that was possible. So Bro called me later this evening and told me that Mom had complained all day and all night about the lack of reception with her new T-Mobile phone. Then she asked if we could switch back to Cingular… uh no, probably not… the penalties will be HUGE.

Ugh.

Can’t T-Mobile just put another cell site up closer to my parents’ place?

That would make my life much better, thankyouverymuch.

No, you should be able to cancel without penalty within 30 days. Speak a rep., maybe they can assist you with the signal problems.

Too bad about the reception… nice phone though. Maybe you can snap some pics of your mother and brother trying to get reception bars on their cells. ;)

That’s the funny thing about T-Mobile up here in SF–it rides off of the Cingular network. That’s why Howie and I switched off of T-Mobile onto Cingular and our connection’s actually a lot better. The thing that sucks in SF is that people fight having new cell towers here b/c of beliefs about them spreading cancer, and since Cingular/AT&T had the most before hand, it only made sense to go back to Cingular/AT&T.

As for switching back, there is a 30 day switch back policy for Cingular, and T-Mobile will take you back in 90 days.

I’ve found they all pretty much suck - having gone through Cingular, Verizon and Nextel, to name a few - but for the most part Sprint has been pretty damn good to me. I rarely have an issue with reception.
