I’ll give you the final count when I’m done with it!
The bags are mostly packed and the last load of laundry and dishes are being done.
I’m just pulling together some last minute things.

Ralph Macchio will star in the indie softball comedy “Beer League,” now lensing in New Jersey.
It also stars Cara Buono, Anthony DeSando, Laurie Metcalf, and Seymour Cassel.
Macchio recently guested as himself on HBO’s “Entourage.”
On a related side note, I have not had popcorn for lunch for a looooooong time now.
Does that mean I can start again?
Britain Getting Own Version Of Hollywood Walk Of Fame
LONDON — Hollywood has a Walk of Fame, and now Britain is getting the Avenue of Stars.
ITV said 100 people who have made an impact on the world of entertainment over the past 50 years are being honored with a star.
Among the stars being honored are Nicole Kidman, the Rolling Stones and late film legend Charlie Chaplin.
The line of silver stars will be set within the courtyard of St. Paul’s Church, nicknamed “the actors’ church.”
A partial list of names was announced Tuesday. The full list will be revealed next month.
I’m getting the final list for postcards tonight so if you want to help me use up my postage, send me the email request tonight! (IM requests don’t count!)
So remember how I couldn’t sleep the other night and bought $200 of stamps online? Well, I received most of it this week. Unfortunately, the dumbos at the USPS didn’t seal my box of postage correctly and some of it fell out in transit. We’ll see how quickly they fix my order after I call it in tomorrow.
Back to my point: As I lamented a while ago, we are going to Maui in a few weeks. I also have a ton of postage now. This means I have no excuse to not send postcards.
So, if you want a postcard, please email me your snail mail address to mauimauimaui[AT]jozjozjoz[DOT]com by Wednesday, August 17. Oh and since I’m trying update my contact list, send me your phone number, too.
[Note: This post was originally made on Friday, 8/12 but I'm dating it 8/17/05 so it will stay at the top of the page until the deadline. Don't bug me about how my blog "has the wrong date," please.]
*That is if the lake is the one at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park in Harbor City.
Giant Caiman Makes a Splash at L.A. Lake
Tue Aug 16, 8:24 AM ETLOS ANGELES – Park visitors have gone from feeding ducks and fish to nourishing a scaly green creature more likely found in Amazonian swamps than a Los Angeles lake — a giant crocodile-like caiman.
Since a gardener spotted it last Friday, people have tried to glimpse the 200-pound reptile wading and sunbathing at Ken Malloy Harbor Regional Park.
Like many Angelenos, the animal is an immigrant who is quickly adopting to its new home. It has already acquired, for example, a nickname matching its Latin American roots and its penchant for tortillas tossed by visitors: Carlito.
“They’ll swallow anything, and if they can’t swallow it, they’ll tear pieces until they can eat it,” said Jarron Lucas of the Southwestern Herpetologist Society.
Lucas’ group, at the request of park rangers, is attempting to capture the animal with nets and a raw chicken, then give it a home at the Los Angeles Zoo. That could take a month, officials say. [full story]
I’ll look forward to hearing updates about Carlito as he moves to the Zoo from Answer Man, Will Campbell. :)
*And by rage I mean something that only I would think up.
We invited some friends over for dinner tonight. One of them cuts hair and since I have a phobia of hair salons, we asked her to come over and do a housecall. As a bonus, a couple of other people would get haircuts too, and we’d feed her.
And now my hair is all nice and trimmed. We were all fed yummy vegan Thai food and we got to hang out with some friends we thought we weren’t going to get to see until after Maui.
Woot!
As I’ve mentioned before, Takeshi Kaneshiro is really hot.
Thanks to stkyrice for sharing this story from Fridae and effectively killing any hope for me and Takeshi. Be sure to remind Yoshi to thank you for that.
6. Takeshi Kaneshiro (Taiwan/Japan)
Also known by his Mandarin name Aniki Jin, actor Takeshi Kaneshiro sets hearts a-flutter with his combination of manga-perfect good looks, model frame and cheekbones to die for. Famous for his leading roles in crossover art films such as Chungking Express and House of Flying Daggers, this half-Taiwanese, half-Japanese movie star also happens to be the celebrity clothes horse for fashion houses such as Prada and Miu Miu.More scandalously, when in Cannes for the screening of House of Flying Daggers, our dear Takeshi – who speaks an impressive five languages – apparently checked into the same room with another man, and was also photographed by the paparazzi feeding soup and holding hands with that same lucky fellow (Oh Takeshi! When will it be me?).
Some of the highlights of the weekend:
-Dad got back from Taiwan on Friday night. I visited them both my dad and my brother today and had lunch with them.
-We saw Tony Bennett at the Hollywood Bowl. TONY BENNETT! Woot
-Spending time with David K who was nice enough to come with me to my company picnic since Yoshi outright refused to go.
-Watching Racing Stripes with Yoshi off the Netflix queue.
-Preparing my postcard list. Our list is well over 66 right now.
In no particular order, here are some of the minorly traumatizing things from my weekend:
-Exorbitant gas prices
-Shopping for wedding clothes and general Hawaii-appropriate apparel. Did I mention I can’t stand shopping for clothes? (On the bright side, I finally know what I’m going to wear to the wedding now.)
-Attending the company picnic. I don’t like seeing my co-workers “out of context” and I don’t like nature. I ate lots of junk food (chili dog bar!) and sat in the shade.
-Visiting grandma and all she could do was grab me tightly and grunt. I wanted to cry.
-I had another bout of insomnia Saturday night. Didn’t go to sleep until past 4:30 am. Couldn’t get up in time to get back to OC at the time I wanted.
-Stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 5 for over an hour while my Dad wouldn’t shut up about topics that always cause us to argue. I felt like throwing up.
-Had to return the Lexus. Worried that my Dad is going to drive as if he’s still in Taiwan.
Don’t believe me?
Here’s the proof:
If you can’t read that, it shows that I paid $40.92 to put 15.161 gallons of gas in my tank at $2.69/gal for the cheapest gas at Exxon.
The other gas prices were $2.79/gal or $2.89/gal.
And if you think that’s expensive, it was actually the cheapest gas I found before I hit the road. I saw one place on Sunset that was $2.83/gal for their cheapest gas and $3.05/gal for the most expensive.
I’m sure it’s even more expensive in Beverly Hills.
I’m home! It’s Friday!
I only had to work through lunch and didn’t have to stay late!
Yay!
Yay!
Yay!
Granted, I’ve been here since 7am, and I’m up to working 11 hours for today.
But at least I can go home at a semi-decent* hour.
Whoo hooo!
*Semi-decent is a relative term.
Here are the IMs I sent to my friend earlier…
[12:53] Joz: Oh I ate a blueberry muffin
[12:53] Joz: I had to.
[12:53] Joz: It was calling out to me.
[12:56] Joz: It was all “I’m a yummy blueberry muffin”
[12:57] Joz: “I was made to be eaten.”
[12:57] Joz: “If you don’t eat me, I will be sad.”
[12:57] Joz: How could I deny a blueberry muffin its destiny?!
Hey don’t judge me.
I blame sleep-deprivation.

Bossguy and I were the first here at 7:00am this morning. I was running about 5 minutes later than I wanted to be, but it was ok because I pulled up right behind Bossguy to get into the parking structure. Everyone else trickled in shortly after that, but none of them were here as late as we were.
Everything went smoothly so far this morning, and the videoconference gods are smiling down on me today because we had no hitches with London calling in to us for the presentation.
It’s almost 9am and most of the office is probably still stuck on the 101. Meanwhile, I think I’m almost ready for lunch!
Left the office at midnight.
There was still crap coming out of the printer, so I hope it finishes by the time I get to the office all bright and early by 7am.
Bossguy joked that I should just go home, shower, and come back. He got there earlier than I did, ordered dinner in the office, and was helping me collate a bunch of stuff because there was so much to do.
Now I’m home and showered, have my work clothes laid out for tomorrow, and no, I am not going back to the office right away. I shall be there bright and early by 7am.
Now for sleep. Where is my bed again? It’s been so long since I’ve been home, I’ve lost my way around here…
I escaped at 7pm tonight (having been here since 7am, not even leaving the office for lunch) so Yoshi and I could meet up with D & M at the new location of Thai Elvis (Palms Thai Restaurant).
The food was great, the company was better, but it was loud-loud-loud and busy-busy-busy.
(Yes, I had Thai food twice in one day. I didn’t plan it like that and didn’t really have a choice for lunch.)
At 8:30, I headed back to the office.
Any guesses as to where I am now? (Hint: Home would be the wrong answer.)
Still at my desk.
We had to work through lunch. We ordered lunch in, but I would’ve rather had a nap in lieu of Thai food.
Yesterday:
In office by 7:30am
Lunch: 1 hour
Leave office 9:30pm
Today:
In office at 7:00am
Lunch: Not coming soon enough…
Here are a couple of pictures taken from my office of the fire Shane just posted about on blogging.la. Unfortunately, the photos are taken into the sun and there is a reflection off the glass to the plants in the office.
But here they are anyway:
Even though I never got to meet Tobi, I know that a lot of people loved her and miss her dearly.
