-Time Magazine 7/11/05 Cover story: The Supreme Battle (Supreme Court, that is)
What’s at stake? Issues such as Abortion, Church and State, Gay Rights, Crime and Punishment, Affirmative Action, States’ Rights, Right to Die
-Hot! Hot! Hot! It was 82 degrees at 8:30 this morning when I was driving to work. Eek!
-Also seen in the 7/11/2005 issue of Time Magazine:
A story about DNA testing available to the average Joe. I guess people are doing research into their own genealogies via direct-to-consumer Ancestry tests. They cost from $95 to $399. A couple of celebs who’ve had this done: Oprah (she’s supposedly a Zulu, but skeptics say that there’s scant evidence linking Zulus to the North American slave trade) and Spike Lee (he’s linked to Niger and Cameroon).
-I would link this, but I can’t find it online. So I’m going to re-type it for myself. Please don’t sue me… In the August 2005 issue of Out Magazine:
Gay Factor (written by Anthony Wm. La Sasso)
GAVIN ROSSDALE: What’s queer about hunk rocker Gavin Rossdale?
>>Before Gavin Rossdale, the former front man of the band Bush, hung around with his sexy singer-wife, Gwen Stefani, he was a regular at London’s gay clubs with the likes of Boy George. A self-proclaimed punk during the ’80s, Rossdale even put egg whites in his hair and glitter on his stomach. Sounds like an ordinary Saturday night out for some of us.
>>In the upcoming movie Factory Girl, Rossdale will act for the first time with his wife; however, a lover to Gwen he will not be. He will play Gerard Malanga, one of Andy Warhol’s many male playthings. Malange also starred in several of Warhol’s pornographic films in the ’60s.
>>In his memoir Take It Like a Man, Boy George claims Rossdale had a long-term relationship with the drag queen Marilyn in the ’80s. If it’s true (Gavin denies it), he did something right because Boy George also claims that Marilyn never really got over Gavin.
>>As the sexy, dapper Balthazar in this year’s film Constantine, Rossdale certainly didn’t mind getting up close and personal with costar Keanu Reeves. In one scene he and Reeves are practically about to make out. Balthazar even tells Reeves that he is “finger-lickin’ good.” Rossdale said this about his scenes with Keanu: “I was in an enviable situation. A lot of people would give a lot of money to be stradled by Keanu.”
>>Was Gavin getting in touch with gayness when he married Gwen? Does he help her pick out clothes for flamboyant and somewhat drag queen-esque style? Is he living vicariously through her?
-Swag is cool. Especially if you come away with DVDs, CDs, T-shirts, hats, and more goodies. ![]()
-Headline seen in the 7/11/2005 issue of Time Magazine:
Old Dog, New Tricks
That indomitable collie Lassie is back– and you’ll never guess whom [sic] she brought with her
(Answer: Peter O’Toole! YAY! I love Peter O’Toole!)
-From the HitList by Dalton Ross in the July 15th Entertainment Weekly: #2: Wizard of Oz munchkin Mickey Carroll turns 86. #3: Hot Dog Eating Champ downs 49 dogs in 12 minutes. (I was reading about the US Eating Champion, Sonya Thomas, just yesterday.)
Nothing more on the Supreme Court cases??
you spent how long last night typing this stuff out? jeez. you need to get a life.
It’s not about a certain Supreme Court case, but rather about the upcoming and potential vacancies on the Supreme Court… how liberal/conservative the current justices are, who might be in consideration, etc.
hahah!
I just linked this on my site…
