Yahoo + Metroblogging = Woot!

As you may know, I’m one of the contributors to blogging.la, the original Metroblogging site.

Well, I know it’s April 1 and all, but check out the news of The Big Secret via Sean Bonner’s announcement of the $25M+ deal from Yahoo! purchasing a 45% stake in Metroblogging

See, we know how to keep our mouths shut (just kidding flickr). That’s right, while we don’t have the full press releases available because we didn’t want them to be dated April 1, we can at least spill the beans here that Yahoo! has acquired a 45% stake in Metroblogging and will be helping us launch some 300 new cities in the following few months. This is something we’ve been working on since Jason moved to San Francisco and was the hardest secret to keep at eTech this year. Since we’re sure everyone will be asking let’s just say the figure is larger than $25M and smaller than $26M. What are we doing with the funding? Better servers, paying bloggers, new cars, hookers, blow, the usual. Details to follow. Stay tuned.

And of course, I’ll have details to report here at jozjozjoz.com, as well.

UPDATE: April Fools!
