Veteran KTLA Anchor Larry McCormick Dies

Larry McCormick, a longtime television journalist and one of the first African American newsmen in Los Angeles, died Friday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Throughout his 43-year broadcasting career, McCormick hosted musical programs, radio and television talk shows, TV game shows, and did football play-by-play. He wrote, narrated and produced television and radio documentaries. He was 71.

Larry Receives his Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame
I actually remember Larry from KTLA, but as I viewed it from rebroadcasts in Guam in the late 70’s, early 80’s. (Guam’s cable, at the time, rebroadcast various LA television stations, including KTLA. Most shows were 2 weeks behind!)

Very sad to hear Mr. McCormick passed away. Just heard - don’t watch 5 too much anymore, but nevertheless - I remember him to be such a gentleman and such a professional. When I did watch 5, he was always a pleasure to listen to. I am 63 and watched him for so many years (earlier years) - I pray for his family - I know God is taking care of him.
