I wonder how many people go back to Taiwan every time there is an election. My dad always makes sure he’s there to vote, my friend’s parents (both doctors) closed their practice for a week to go back to Taiwan to vote, their daughter also took time off medical school to go vote… Taiwanese are so passionate about voting that it surprises me how people are so passive about the elections here.

I appreciate your insights and commentary about Taiwan — you’re absolutely right… Taiwan is not a tiny, insignificant island. What happens there over the coming days & months will impact the world.
