So after I logged offline and left The Lounge early last evening, I headed back up to the room to relax, freshen up, explore the room, whathaveyou.

Before I can tell you how we ended up ringing in the New Year, there is a whole entire story (and believe me, it’s a good one) of how we got upgraded from our really nice room, to an even nicer corner suite. And why we were sent a complimentary bottle of champagne.

And in addition to what we ended up doing through midnight, there is another story to tell about the late night meal we had before we came back to the *ahem* suite to open up that bottle of champagne to share with our friends before taking them home (at around, oh, 4am).

I do believe it was approx 5:15 when we got to bed. And we’ve just now finished breakfast.

Unfortunately, it’s almost time to check out, so I can’t tell any of the above-mentioned stories, as we have a jam-packed New Year’s Day to spend with Yoshi’s family (mom’s side in the Bay Area for lunch, dad’s side in Sacramento for dinner & on).

And I have at least two friends in Sacto to visit… one of whom I haven’t seen since 2 weeks before the September 11th attacks (she had just moved from L.A. to N.Y. and was staying with some friends just blocks away from the WTC). The other friend I haven’t seen since sometime in high school… almost 10 years ago.

With any luck, I’ll see everyone I want to see in Sacto today/tonight and also get a bit of rest so that over the weekend I can see all the people in SF that I didn’t get to see last night.

All of this travelling stuff is much harder on Yoshi than it is on me. Since I had to work a half day yesterday, Yoshi ended up leaving the house around the same time I did in the car to make a 5 hour drive up north… just in time to pick me up from the airport in Oakland and to drive into the city.

And Yoshi will likely have to do all the driving today because I always end up getting lost when I drive in this city. Oh, and it’s rainy, too.

Send Yoshi some caffeine-laden good driving wishes… and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
